Threat Summary:

A BirdLife “restricted-range” species. Not well-known due to partly nocturnal behaviour but appears to be fairly common. Habitat loss is the main threat; only a few patches of primary lowland forest remain.

Range:

Found on Buru, S Moluccas, Indonesia.

Habitat:

Found between 600-1700m (1968-5576 ft). Recorded as locally fairly common in montane forest in northwest of island. Has also been seen in lowland and hill forests.

Wild Diet:

Possibly fruits, berries, seeds and nuts.

Ecology and Behaviour:

Not well known but is active during the day, and also at night when heard calling. May move seasonally between mountains and coast.

2-3 eggs
