Threat Summary:

The species’ population is assumed to be declining due to ongoing trapping for local trade and habitat loss (agricultural expansion, logging for timber and development). The most recent records are from Siburan Important Bird and Biodiversity Area. While historically rates of lowland forest cover loss were very high on Mindoro recent rates have been much slower, and over the past three generations (2010-2023) forest cover in this species’ range was reduced by 5-7%.
