By helping to protect and rehabilitate their forests, the WPT supports parrots and preserves the rich biodiversity of their ecosystems.

Identifying Key Habitat

Identifying ecosystems that are important for parrot survival. This involves using science to understand where parrots breed, feed and roost by using advanced technologies like satellite tracking and GIS (Geographic Information Systems).

Restoring and Protecting Habitat

Carrying out reforestation and restoration projects using native trees and plants, restoring natural water courses and reintroducing keystone species. These efforts are critical where deforestation has drastically reduced available habitat.

Providing Ongoing Protection

Ongoing monitoring of parrots, protected areas and habitats ensures effective conservation. This includes regular population and habitat quality surveys, and monitoring illegal logging or poaching. Data collected from these activities help to inform conservation strategies.
