Colour Adult:
Both adults mainly green in colour; dark brown crown to nape; dark red/brown frons, lores and face; yellow/brown ear coverts; off-white/yellow scalloping on dull green breast; green bend of wing; brown/red patch in middle of abdomen; brown/red tail turning to green toward base. Bill dark grey. Eye ring bare and off-white. Eye brown.

Housing:
Probably similar to that of Painted Conure (P. picta): aviary or suspended enclosure, minimum length 2m (6.5 ft).
Diet:
Probably similar to that of Painted Conure (P. picta): fruits such as: apple, pear, orange, banana, mango, kiwi, cactus fruits, pomegranate, forming about 30 percent of the diet; vegetables such as: carrot, celery, green beans, peas in the pod; fresh corn; green leaves such as: Swiss chard, lettuce, dandelion, sowthistle, chickweed; spray millet; small seed mix such as: canary, millet and smaller amounts of safflower, oats, buckwheat and a little hemp; soaked and sprouted sunflower seed; cooked beans and pulses, boiled maize and complete pellet.
Enrichment:
Probably similar to that of Painted Conure (P. picta): Pyrrhura conures are usually avid chewers, so provide plenty of unsprayed, non-toxic flowering, fir, pine, willow, elder and saskatoon branches, wooden block toys and vegetable tanned leather toys. Also push and pull toys, puzzle/foraging toys, swings, ropes and ladders. Also provide overhead misters or shallow water bowls for bathing.

Threat Summary:
This species is susceptible to trapping for the wildlife trade, hunting and habitat loss. Heavy deforestation expected to continue in its range in the future.
Range:
Is restricted to Amazonas state in north west Amazonian Brazil.
Habitat:
Found up to 800m (2624 ft) in terra firme and varzea forests, including forest margins and nearby clearings with tall trees.
Wild Diet:
Feeds on a wide variety of fruits, flowers, seeds and possibly algae.
Ecology and Behaviour:
Probably similar to that of Painted Conure (P. picta): resident; possibly nests in tree hollow. Seen in pairs, groups of three or flocks of up to 20 individuals.
Clutch and Egg Size:
Probably 5-7 elliptical eggs, 26.5 x 19.0mm (1 x 0.7 in).
