Unknown, declining.
IUCN Red List Status:
Least Concern

Appendix II (as conspecific with P. melanura).
Threat Summary:
Not globally threatened. Is thought to be uncommon and declining in W Ecuador due to habitat loss. None have been reported from several protected areas, including Otonga private reserve. Not threatened by trade.
Range:
Found on the Pacific slope of Andes mountains in SW Colombia (Nariño), and NW Ecuador (S to W Cotopaxi).
Habitat:
Occupies various temperate to tropical habitat types, such as várzea, lowland and pre-montane rainforest and cloud forest up to 2200m.
Wild Diet:
Feeds on a number of fruits and tree bark species: Ficus spp. (Moraceae) and Alchornea sp. (Rubiaceae) fruits.
Ecology and Behaviour:
Has been suggested to make seasonal or erratic movements in NW Ecuador.
Clutch and Egg Size:
4-5 eggs.
Breeding Season:
April-June.
