Collaboration: Joymer from Puerto Rican Parrot Recovery visits Kiwa Centre
The Kiwa Centre was thrilled to host Joymer Figueroa Martínez from the Proyecto Conservación Cotorra Puertorriqueña de Río Abajo [Puerto Rican Parrot Conservation Project] during her recent trip to the UK!

By exchanging expertise, ideas, and experiences, we strengthen global efforts to protect parrots both in the wild and in care. During her visit, Joymer toured the centre, learned how we care for our 100+ macaws, and discovered enrichment techniques that could be used to support the breeding-for-release program for the critically endangered Puerto Rican Amazon.

In return, she shared invaluable insights into the success of the Puerto Rico Parrot Conservation Project has had in increasing Puerto Rican Parrot numbers in the wild through dedicated on-the-ground conservation efforts.

Collaborations like this are vital to ensuring the survival of parrots worldwide, in the wild, in conservation programs, and even in our homes.
