Building capacity to rescue wild parrots seized from illegal trade is a vital part of strategies to bring this practice to an end. Another important element is to enlist the support of communities who are often first line of defence against trappers. As part of a major collaborative effort to address illegal wildlife trade in Angola, last year the World Parrot Trust delivered training to National park rangers, supported the construction of an aviary to rehabilitate seized parrots and conducted outreach missions to rural communities in Cabinda Province. Watch this short video of parrot hero José Bizi (manager of Maiombe National Park) discussing the situation in Angola.
