Carolyn Pradun has kept birds all her life, starting with the family’s pet budgie, and moving on to breeding and showing budgies while in high school. She has shared the last 16 years with a Rainbow Lorikeet. A growing awareness of and concern over habitat loss for Australia’s birds led to a career change and a role at one of Australia’s leading environmental NGOs in 2011. Shortly afterwards, WPT approached Carolyn to join the WPT Australia committee as a volunteer. Carolyn has a Master’s degree in marketing, including not-for-profit marketing and fundraising, and works to raise awareness of the issues currently facing many of the world’s parrots.
