Ifeanyi is a Nigerian-based community conservationist and a lecturer in the Department of Zoology and Environmental Biology at the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN). He is passionate about wildlife conservation and has represented WPT in Nigeria since 2017. His ongoing Ph.D. research at UNN has identified populations of Endangered African Grey parrots throughout their range in southern Nigeria and determined the threats to their existence in the wild. His field activities have further unveiled the various players involved in the trade of live parrots and derivatives in Nigeria. He is keenly involved in activities that can establish parrots as flagship species to ensure sustainable management of forest ecosystems. His focus is on establishing measures to harmonise man with nature through enshrining parrot conservation within human activities and advocating for a change of mindset among decision-makers to ensure policy is based on scientifically-derived evidence.
