As the World Parrot Trust turns 30, it’s astounding to see just how much has changed in the parrot world in that time. And as 2019 comes to a close, we pause to take stock of all that’s happened over the last 12-plus months.
While 2019 did have its challenges – particularly for our partners in Bolivia, who saw the worst wildfires in two decades – it was in many aspects another good year of work for parrots, seeing successful anti-wildlife trade work in Indonesia, Bolivia, Brazil, Peru and Africa; the expansion of habitat restoration actions in Central and South America; heightened efforts to reach local communities with education and awareness programs; increased efforts to boost chick survival in Brazil, Bonaire and Bolivia; and the completion of ground-breaking research to guide future conservation efforts.
To celebrate these and other accomplishments, we’re pleased to share with you our 2018/19 Impact Report, as well as a special preview of the Autumn 2019 PsittaScene, highlighting some of our work over the last 30 years.
As always, your support was integral to these successes. Thank you again for being such an important part of the work we do for parrots! We’re optimistic that the next 30 years will be positive for parrot conservation and welfare, and we look forward to working with you to make all sorts of progress possible.
